We are seeking a Software Engineering & Development Officer to design, develop, and deliver technology solutions that support Corporate Actions processing. This role blends analysis and hands-on development to identify opportunities for processing improvements and to drive the delivery of scalable, efficient solutions. The position involves building new functionality and enhancing existing applications to support our global business users.

The team you will join is part of Global Technology Services (GTS), which delivers enterprise technology solutions supporting State Street’s global businesses. Within GTS, this role aligns to the Corporate Actions value stream and operates within an Agile delivery model. You will contribute to the development of technology solutions that meet client, business, and regulatory expectations, while supporting time‑critical processing in a global environment.
What you will be responsible for
As a Software Engineering & Development Officer you will:
Demonstrate the ability to analyze and understand complex technical concepts and apply them effectively in solution design and implementation.
Deliver high-quality, well-tested code within committed timelines; conduct unit testing and support downstream testing efforts.
Ensure solutions meet required security, compliance, and operational readiness standards
Implement and optimize database queries and stored procedures to support application functionality and performance.
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve application defects and production issues, ensuring timely and sustainable fixes.

Advanced hands‑on experience developing Java‑based applications, including core Java, J2EE, Servlets, and JDBC.
Experience with Spring Boot and REST Web Services
Proficient with Oracle DB and SQL
Experience with code repositories and code management (Git, SVN, etc.)
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong ability to review and understand complex concepts at a detailed level
Ability to multi-task and to take the initiative when needed
Education & Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in technology roles within financial industry
Experience in an Agile ecosystem
5+ years of experience with Oracle SQL
5+ years of experience with Java
Additional requirements
The following are considered a plus, but are not required
Experience with API development
Experience with MQ
Cloud based development experience
Experience with working on custody platforms, securities processing, or post‑trade systems (e.g., settlements, asset servicing, corporate actions)
