Manulife’s Corporate Archives is responsible for preserving and providing access to the permanent and historical records of Manulife and its subsidiary and acquired companies. Our Archives Assistant Internship offers hands-on experience supporting the ongoing management of these valuable corporate records through projects involving inventories, preservation, digitization, database management, and research. Working alongside archival professionals, you'll contribute to initiatives that ensure Manulife’s history is organized, preserved, and accessible for future generations.
This opportunity is ideal for students pursuing archival studies who are interested in records management, preservation, digitization, historical research, and information management. You will gain practical experience working with a variety of archival formats, including digital, textual, graphic, moving image, and textile materials, while developing foundational skills that support a future career in archives, libraries, museums, or information management.
Position Responsibilities:
- Prepare and verify inventories against archival records and collections.
- Rehouse records and perform routine preservation activities to support the long-term care of archival materials.
- Input collection descriptions into archival databases in accordance with established procedures and standards.
- Develop content for the Corporate Archives internal social media and outreach channels.
- Digitize archival materials by scanning documents, photographs, and other historical records.
- Conduct research using archival records to support internal inquiries and special projects.
- Assist with archival projects, program development initiatives, and internal outreach activities as opportunities arise.
- Support the arrangement, description, and management of permanent corporate records.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a postsecondary program with a focus on archival studies or a related field.

- Knowledge of archival principles, records management practices, and preservation standards.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in an archives, library, museum, or similar information management environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with collections management software, particularly ArchivEra, is considered an asset.

Salary range is expected to be between: $40,950.00 CAD - $56,550.00 CAD
The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. The annual salary will be pro-rated based on the length of the work term.
