Job Overview
Plans and develops tools, dies, and specialized parts used in manufacturing processes.
Job Requirements
- Creating designs, converting designs to blueprints using computer-aided design software, and understanding complex schematics for building fixtures and new parts.
- Inspecting the tools, dies for any damage or imperfections affecting the functionality and periodic testing of the tools and machines to ensure they have high efficiency.
- Solving problems regarding the production processes, machine settings, and fabrication methods and recommending modifications in the design and materials used.
- Manufacturing new stamping and molds, producing spare parts, creating dies, and repairing the dies, molds, and tools when required.
What your background should look like
Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related work experience. Requires completion of high school. Vocational training or an AA degree is preferred.
