The Physical Network Inventory team are managed for maintaining the inventory systems that are used to plan and build the Openreach network.
These systems have been central in Helping the Openreach rollout of full fibre to the UK.
The role also involves futureproofing these critical systems to ensure they remain available, operational and well enabled into the future.
What you’ll be doing
As a hands-on Full Stack Developer with strong DevOps expertise you will be managed for design, build, deploy, and operate scalable applications end-to-end. The role requires ownership across development, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and production support, ensuring high-quality and reliable delivery Full Stack Development (Hands on)
Design and develop end-to-end applications using:
Backend: Java, Spring Boot Frontend: React
Build and consume RESTful APIs / microservices
Work with PostgreSQL (schema design, performance tuning)
Ensure code quality through unit testing, code reviews, and best practices
DevOps (Hands on)
Build and manage and deploy CI/CD pipelines (GitLab pipeline)
Implement containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) where applicable
Set up monitoring, logging and alerting on monitoring apps like Dynatrace.
Engineering Practices o Knowledge of: Git, extention strategies, Agile / Scrum delivery, Secure coding and basic application security practices
• Essential:
6– 8 years in software engineering
Proven hands-on experience across both development and DevOps
Strong ownership mindset (build + run)
Ability to work across multiple layers of the stack
Problem-solving across code, infra, and data
Effective stakeholder collaboration
Desirable Skills / Experience
Desirable: Development experience with Spring framework is desired.
Experience with Postgres advanced features (RLS, performance tuning)
Telecom / OSS / GIS domain exposure
Knowledge of API security, RBAC models
Exposure to SRE practices / reliability engineering
