Senior Test Architect - Mobile Apps
Philips
Job Title
Senior Test Architect - Mobile Apps
Your Role
- The Test Architect is technically-focused — ensuring the testing ecosystem (strategy, frameworks, tools, pipelines) is robust, scalable, and compliant by design and market standards.
- Owns test strategy, tooling decisions, framework design and automation vision. Accountable for quality and engineering excellence (Craftsmanship).
- Analyses defect patterns (root-cause, clustering by module/device); recommends systemic fixes
- Attends standup as needed; advises on technical blockers, environment issues or framework gaps.
- Authors and maintains the overarching Test Strategy document (risk-based, model-based, exploratory); defines coverage models, test levels (unit → system → acceptance), and device/OS matrix for mobiles.
- Defines quality attributes & KPIs (code coverage thresholds, mutation score, static-analysis rules); designs guardrails in CI/CD pipelines (e.g., blocking merge on test failure).
- Architects the test suite to be comprehensive enough to catch issues pre-release; designs shift-left practices (contract tests, API-level validation) to reduce late-found defects. Participate in feature design review to understand testability and failure mode reviews.
- Designs parallelized test execution, test data management, smart test selection (impact analysis), and optimized CI pipelines to reduce duration.
- Owns the AI & automation architecture: framework selection, layer split (UI vs API vs unit), mobile-specific tooling (Appium/Detox/Espresso/XCUITest), and maintainability standards.
- Defines the branching strategy (e.g., GitFlow, trunk-based with feature flags); sets up automated smoke/regression suites that gate RC promotion; ensures test environments mirror branch structure.
- Mentors testers on technical skills (automation, tooling, medical domain nuances); sets coding standards for test code; defines architecture of automation. Represent Cross Functional (PH/PIC Mobile)Architect forum to bring in learnings to drive best practices in OHC.
- Selects and architects toolchain (e.g., Appium + Jenkins/GitHub Actions); ensures tools produce traceable, auditable artefacts (timestamped logs, screenshots, video); NPSS
