Senior Administrator - SharePoint Administration
HCLTech
Role Summary The SharePoint Online L2 Support Engineer will support a large-scale, multi-region migration of active departmental data from AWS FSx to SharePoint Online. The role focuses on SharePoint target readiness, permissions, migration validation, cutover support, incident resolution, hyper care, and operational handover. The engineer will collaborate with migration, identity, network, service desk, business-owner, and partner teams while working within the approved project architecture and responsibility boundaries. Key Responsibilities SharePoint Online Target Preparation Create, configure, and validate approved SharePoint Online sites and document libraries for migration waves. Check naming, ownership, storage availability, quotas, versioning, sharing, retention, and library settings. Maintain target-readiness checklists and confirm readiness before bulk, delta, and final cutover activities. Permissions and Access Map approved AWS FSx NTFS access requirements to SharePoint permission levels, SharePoint groups, Microsoft 365 groups, or Microsoft Entra ID security groups. Configure and validate site, library, and approved folder-level access, including permission inheritance. Troubleshoot missing groups, incorrect membership, access denied, excessive unique permissions, and permission deviations. Migration and Sharegate Support Review ShareGate assessment and migration reports for failed, skipped, unsupported, or warning items. Troubleshoot SharePoint-side issues such as invalid names, long paths, unsupported items, authentication failures, target mapping errors, and throttling. Support retries and remediation, verify successful reprocessing, and update agreed migration trackers or orchestration interfaces. Validation and Cutover Validate file and folder counts, structure, data size, sample integrity, metadata, and permissions against the approved source scope. Perform representative user-access testing for owner, member, read-only, and restricted access scenarios. Participate in readiness and go/no-go reviews; confirm SharePoint target readiness and support final delta, access switch, and cutover incident handling. Hypercare and L2 Support Provide L2 support after each migration wave for inaccessible or missing content, permission issues, duplicate content, broken links, search delays, and OneDrive sync concerns. Identify whether incidents relate to SharePoint Online, identity, source data, ShareGate, mapping, network, or Microsoft 365 service behavior. Resolve within agreed targets or escalate to L3, Microsoft, identity, network, customer, or migration-partner teams with complete evidence. Documentation and Handover Maintain runbooks, target-readiness records, permission mappings, validation reports, incident logs, known-error articles, and hypercare status updates. Contribute to weekly reporting, wave completion evidence, lessons learned, knowledge transfer, and BAU handover documentation.
