Are you seeking an environment where you can drive innovation? Do you want to apply state-of-the-art computer science to solve real-world problems? Amazon is looking for a Principal Technical Program Manager who is passionate about solving highly ambiguous and challenging problems at global scale. Join a team building the future of automated compliance in the product space. Your work will directly impact Amazon's ability to serve customers and partners safely and efficiently across the globe. We build systems that automatically de-risk Amazon sellers' product selection and help them easily test and certify their products.
As a Principal Technical Program Manager, you will drive large cross-group initiatives to build scalable services so that our customers have a trustworthy online shopping experience. You will help build next-generation Selling Partner compliance systems and reduce friction in listing and selling products globally. You will also help automate product safety controls and regulations so that Amazon can ensure products sold at its store are compliant, safe, and trustworthy. This is a strategic leadership role that requires operating across multiple VP organizations with complete independence, driving broad cross-organizational impact, and solving significantly complex or endemic problems in the compliance and safety domain. You will define and deliver programs with significant technology impact, own technology roadmaps, and align teams toward simple, coherent approaches that scale globally.
Key job responsibilities
Strategic Program Leadership: Define and deliver very large, significantly complex programs spanning multiple VP organizations in the compliance and safety space, with broad cross-organizational and cross-business impact.
Architecture & Technical Strategy: Drive large-scale engineering efforts to build automated compliance systems, identifying gaps and opportunities within or between architectures and organizations, and influencing system architecture decisions.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Build consensus and align multiple teams toward coherent technology strategies for seller compliance automation, product safety controls, and regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholder Communication: Represent complex decisions, trade-offs, and solutions clearly to VPs and senior leadership (up to 3 levels above); write effective Amazon 6-pager narratives that drive alignment.
Force Multiplication: Dramatically increase the effectiveness of engineering groups by reducing coupling between teams, enabling independent operation, and creating or optimizing cross-organizational structures and mechanisms.
Trade-off Management: Make strategic trade-offs between business opportunity, resources, and sustainability for compliance systems serving global marketplaces.

Community Development: Actively develop the TPM community through mentoring, recruiting, promotion assessments, and career development of others.
Process Improvement: Drive adoption of critical mechanisms ensuring long-term program success; minimize repeated effort year-over-year by creating scalable, self-sustaining processes.
