Hardware Board Design Engineer, Senior
Qualcomm
Summary of Responsibilities: Design, review, and debug digital PCB designs, breakout boards, and test platforms using industry-standard CAD tools such as Mentor Graphics Xpedition/DA or Cadence Allegro. Apply strong electronics engineering fundamentals and PCB manufacturing knowledge to support board design, bring-up, validation, and issue resolution. Perform board-level bring-up, debugging, and failure analysis of high-speed digital systems and interfaces. Drive Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis for PCB designs, leveraging simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, and PowerSI to optimize performance. Characterize and validate high-speed digital channels using measurements including S-parameters, TDR, eye diagrams, jitter, isolation, and crosstalk. Support design, validation, and debug of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, CSI, USB, and PAM-based links, ensuring compliance with protocol and performance requirements. Execute lab-based validation and debug using equipment such as Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (DSO), and Logic Analyzers. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Hardware, SI/PI, ASIC, System, Manufacturing, and Test Engineering teams to drive product development and issue closure. Document design reviews, validation results, debug findings, and technical recommendations in a clear and structured manner. Support program execution by communicating technical status, risks, and key findings effectively with global engineering teams and stakeholders.
