The Special Education Teacher will design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with a range of learning needs and disabilities, aligning goals with academic, social, and behavioral development. Responsibilities include planning and delivering daily lessons, adapting curriculum and teaching methods, and using appropriate instructional materials and assessments. The teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and caregivers, maintain detailed student progress records, and participate in regular review meetings. The role also involves creating a safe, inclusive classroom environment, supporting students communication and life skills, and engaging in professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.Qualifications
- Strong understanding of diverse disabilities and learning differences, and the ability to support students with varied cognitive and developmental needs.
- Demonstrated teaching skills, including lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment, preferably with middle schoolage learners.
- Special Education expertise, including experience with IEPs, differentiated instruction, and inclusive education strategies.
- Effective communication skills for working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams, and for documenting progress clearly and accurately.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Diploma in spl education
- Relevant teaching certification or qualification in special education (where applicable), and prior experience in a school or clinical educational setting.
- Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and maintain a patient, empathetic, and collaborative approach.
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies, basic counselling skills, and the use of educational aids or assistive technologies is an advantage.
