Your New Role

The Dalton team builds and operates backend services that power subscriptions, commerce, and partner integrations across our streaming platforms. These systems are mission-critical, high-volume, and event-driven, operating at scale across AWS. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with a strong backend focus to design, deliver, and support Java-based, cloud-native services. In this role, you will own complex features end-to-end, influence technical direction within the team, and help raise the bar for code quality, reliability, and operational excellence. This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant ownership and mentorship expectations, but no formal people-management responsibilities.

Your Role Accountabilities Design, build, and maintain Java backend services using Spring Boot Own delivery of complex backend features, from design through production support Build and evolve event-driven and asynchronous systems using AWS messaging services Design and maintain RESTful APIs, service integrations, and internal platform capabilities Leverage Amazon SNS, SQS, and DynamoDB to build resilient, scalable distributed systems Deploy and support backend services across multiple AWS regions, ensuring availability, resiliency, and fault tolerance Participate in architectural discussions and influence technical decisions within the team Review code regularly, setting expectations for quality, maintainability, testing, and correctness Mentor Dev 2 and junior engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and pairing

Participate in on-call rotations and lead investigation and resolution of production incidents Identify and reduce technical debt while improving system performance, reliability, and operability Document designs, decisions, and operational considerations to improve team clarity and velocity
