The Amazon's eXperiences & Upskilling (AXU) organization is looking for a Principal Accessibility Specialist to support the AXU team in their work to ensure that the daily experiences of Amazonians and the communities Amazon serves are Born Accessible.
You will champion the needs of people with disabilities by defining and executing the audience strategy, content approach, and engagement model that enables all of AXU to embed accessibility in their work — reaching software development engineers, program managers, product managers, content creators, experience designers, and learning designers as distinct communities with different engagement needs.
This role works alongside an Accessibility Director who owns governance, policy, and organizational accountability. You will own the how and who — determining which audiences need what level of enablement, in what format, and in what sequence to drive sustainable accessibility adoption across the organization.
This is an individual contributor role requiring complete independence. You will define best practices, build engagement strategies where none exist, and operate in ambiguity to drive accessibility adoption across multiple technical communities within AXU.

Plan and deliver complex accessibility content across multiple audiences and skill levels

Create exemplary content: playbooks, training modules, reference architectures, remediation guides, and templates
Lead content creation where long-term approach is ambiguous

Serve as the face of accessibility across AXU for all teams regardless of technical depth
Design distinct engagement models for different communities (code reviews, consultations, training, embedded practice)
Champion the needs of people with disabilities — surfacing barriers and translating lived experience into requirements
Collaborate with DLS/Pa11y, Wa11y, and existing teams to integrate standards and co-develop solutions
