Location: Vidyashilp Academy, Yelahanka, Bangalore North Job Summary : We are seeking an experienced and passionate Librarian to manage and enhance our library services. The ideal candidate will foster a culture of reading and learning, maintain library resources efficiently, and inspire students to develop lifelong reading habits.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring an organized, welcoming, and resource-rich environment.
- Develop, maintain, and update the library collection, including books, periodicals, digital resources, and multimedia materials.
- Maintain accurate library records, catalogues, and databases.
- Assist students and staff in locating information, conducting research, and selecting appropriate reading materials.
- Cultivate a love for reading among students by actively engaging with them and promoting reading initiatives.
- Recommend age-appropriate and interest-based books to children, encouraging independent reading and literary exploration.
- Guide students in discovering diverse genres, authors, and reading materials that support their academic and personal growth.
- Handle library-related inquiries through various communication channels.
- Monitor and update digital library resources and online content.
- Research and implement new library technologies and information management systems.
- Organize and coordinate library events, reading programs, storytelling sessions, author interactions, book clubs, and other learning activities.
- Manage library budgets, procurement processes, and resource acquisitions.
- Ensure proper preservation, circulation, and security of library materials.
- Supervise and support library assistants and other library staff.
Desired Candidate Profile :
- Bachelors Degree in Library Science; Masters Degree in Library Science or Information Management preferred.
- Proven experience as a Librarian or Assistant/Junior Librarian.
- Strong knowledge of library management systems, cataloguing, and information resources.
- Proficiency in computer applications and electronic databases.
- A genuine passion for reading and children's literature, with the ability to inspire young readers.
- Strong understanding of age-appropriate literature and the ability to recommend books based on students interests and reading levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
