Overview:
In this role the Lead Engineer will actively participate in global chemical and environmental regulatory compliance related projects to ensure the company’s products, materials, and processes comply with global chemical regulatory requirements. The role involves managing regulatory compliance projects, interpreting complex chemical regulation, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and maintaining accurate compliance documentation.
Job Description Title: Lead Engineer (P2) (Hybrid)
Primary Responsibilities:
Assessment of MOC (Material of Concern) data at Part and Assembly level material and finish processes. Coordinate with design team in material selection and MOC validation for new designs as per company policy. Identify and validate the alternative materials for REACH compliance. Work with customers to address chemical regulatory queries and provide supporting documentation. Identification of regulatory risk to products and prepare a mitigation plan Propose sustainable alternatives and lead long-term roadmaps for high-impact material transitions.
Required Qualifications:
4 to 6 years of work experience. Bachelor’ degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Material, or Metallurgical Engineering.
Primary Skills:
Strong understanding of global chemical regulatory frameworks (REACH, CLP, GHS, RoHS, TSCA, etc.). Knowledge on digital tools e.g., CDX, SAP EHSM, Sphera and other tools for chemical regulation risk mitigation. Strong understanding of electronic materials, soldering processes, PCB fabrication, and surface finishes. Ability to interpret evolving regulations (e.g., EU REACH, EPA PFAS, TSCA, Japan CSCL) and proactively adapt to business strategy. Ability to interpret data from Engineering drawings, technical specifications, SDS, BoMs, chemical compositions, and regulatory documents. Knowledge on Materials, conformal coating, encapsulation, high-temperature electronics and corrosion protection processes as per aerospace industry standards. Hands-on experience with materials testing, data analysis, and failure analysis techniques. Familiar with electronics standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-2221, MIL-STD-883, SAE, ASTM). Experience in basic operations of CAD tools (CATIA V5, UG NX). Experience in the electronic products MOC assessment and regulatory requirements (RoHS). Working Knowledge on Siemens PLM Teamcenter software application. Basic knowledge on Product Design, Materials selection, and Process development. Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, and documentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. MS Office tools experience.
