Responsibilities & Key Deliverables
As a Lead Engineer - within the Farm Division at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the comprehensive homologation process of tractors and their components. Your responsibilities will encompass an in-depth understanding of tractor systems and their compliance with national and international standards including IS, AIS, CMV-Rule, ISO, OECD, ASABE, and EU norms. You will lead the preparation of detailed test specifications, applications, and technical documentation to ensure all products meet stringent regulatory requirements.
Your role will involve meticulous planning and execution of various testing regimes such as CMVR, ICT, batch testing, export homologation, and adherence to EU and ASABE standards. You will engage extensively with renowned test agencies including CFMTTI, ARAI, CIRT, VCA, and TÜV, ensuring seamless coordination and technical interfacing at all stages.
Safety certification of critical components such as mechanical couplings, ROPS, SBA, EMI/EMC, and HVAC systems will be under your purview. Managing the homologation budget effectively, including development costs, test fees, and related expenses, will be essential to your role. You will facilitate plant readiness for Conformity of Production (COP) audits and will support their execution to maintain high compliance standards.
Additionally, you will oversee the review of test reports, provide technical feedback to certification bodies, and lead technical discussions within design teams and project groups. Troubleshooting and resolving issues identified at test centres, maintaining comprehensive records including master files, applications, test data, certificates, and reports will form a critical part of your daily functions. Strong multitasking capabilities, keen interpretation of standards, and excellent communication skills will empower you to excel in this role.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have between 6 to 10 years of progressive experience in the tractor manufacturing or automotive sector, with a deep focus on homologation and compliance testing. Proven experience in coordinating with prominent regulatory and certification agencies will be highly valued, alongside a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Expertise in interpreting and applying standards such as IS, AIS, CMVR, OECD, ASABE, EU/WVTA, and other international regulations is essential. Hands-on experience in witnessing and leading homologation testing processes, coupled with knowledge of safety certifications for tractor components, will be critical to success in this role.
