ITIL Configuration Manager - 5 to 8 Yrs - Bangalore ITIL Configuration Manager – Job Description Purpose The Configuration Manager (Service Asset and Configuration Manager) ensures that all IT assets or Configuration Items (CIs) required to deliver IT services are properly controlled, accurate, and that reliable information about them is accessible when needed. This includes details of asset location, configuration, and relationships between CIs, and maintaining the integrity of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and IT asset database.
Key Responsibilities
Policy & Standards : Develop, implement, and maintain Configuration and Asset Management standards, policies, and procedures aligned with ITIL. CMDB Ownership : Manage the CMDB, central libraries, tools, and data integrity; ensure data is current, accurate, and complete. Process Governance : Oversee processes for creating and updating CI relationships (e.g., between services, applications, servers, databases). Asset Control : Ensure compliance with hardware/software contracts, manage license lifecycle, and support vendor audits. Data Quality : Perform regular data quality checks, reconcile discrepancies, and use automation/discovery tools where appropriate. Audits & Compliance : Support scheduled/unscheduled audits, provide evidence, and maintain process documentation. Reporting : Generate reports on configuration status, license consumption, entitlements, warranties, and other IT asset metrics. Training & Support : Coach and train CMDB stakeholders on the configuration and asset management system and its link to Change, Incident, and other IT processes. Continuous Improvement : Monitor KPIs, optimise processes, and integrate with other IT processes (e.g., Change, Release, Problem Management). Additional Responsibility : Should be able to support other ITIL process to work with cross functional team Skills & Competencies Strong ITIL knowledge (Configuration, Asset, Change, Incident Management). CMDB platform experience (e.g., ServiceNow, other asset management tools). Data governance and quality frameworks. IT infrastructure, application, and service modelling knowledge. Stakeholder management and communication skills. Analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
