Job Summary:We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Individuals & Societies (I&S) Teacher to join our IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history, geography, economics, political science, or related disciplines and be committed to fostering inquiry-based learning. This role involves delivering an engaging, interdisciplinary curriculum that develops students' critical thinking, global awareness, and research skills.Key Responsibilities:1. Teaching & Learning
- Deliver inquiry-based and concept-driven lessons that align with the IB MYP framework.
- Foster a student-centered classroom environment that encourages discussion, analysis, and independent thought.
- Use a variety of teaching methodologies, technology, and real-world case studies to enhance student engagement.
- Assess student progress using IB assessment criteria, formative and summative assessments.
- Provide individualized support to students, addressing diverse learning needs.2. Curriculum Development & Collaboration
- Plan and implement the MYP I&S curriculum, ensuring alignment with IB philosophy and standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary units (IDUs) that connect I&S with other subjects.
- Integrate ATL (Approaches to Learning) skills and IB Learner Profile attributes into daily teaching.
- Contribute to curriculum review and continuous improvement initiatives.3. Assessment & Reporting
- Design and administer assessments based on MYP assessment criteria.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, helping them reflect and improve their learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in parent-teacher conferences.4. Student Development & Extracurricular Activities
- Guide students in developing critical thinking, research, and global citizenship skills.
- Support students in personal projects, inquiry-based learning, and service-learning initiatives.
- Participate in school events, field trips, and extracurricular activities that enhance learning beyond the classroom.5. Professional Development & IB Engagement
- Engage in ongoing IB training and professional development to stay updated on best practices.
- Collaborate with IB educators to ensure the effective implementation of MYP strategies.
- Contribute to the schools IB evaluation and accreditation process.Qualifications & Skills:Education & Experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, or a related field.
- Teaching certification and IB MYP training (preferred).
- Minimum 2-5 years of teaching experience in an IB MYP or international school setting.Skills & Competencies
