About the role
As Head – Learning and Talent, you will be responsible for driving organisational capability, talent development, and performance through the Functional Academy framework. In this role, you will focus on designing and implementing competency-based learning programs, building future-ready skills, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. You will also lead talent identification, succession planning, and high-potential development initiatives to ensure alignment between workforce capabilities, business objectives, and long-term organisational growth.
Key responsibilities
Functional Academy leadership
Establish the vision, strategy, and operating model for the Functional Academy
Define functional competency frameworks for key business areas
Develop role-specific competency assessments and skill matrices
Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to design and validate learning programs

Design and develop comprehensive learning pathways aligned with career progression and competency development
Oversee creation of blended learning programs combining instructor-led training, e-learning, workshops, and on-the-job learning
Manage curriculum development, instructional design, and content creation
Ensure quality and relevance of all learning interventions through regular reviews and updates
Coordinate learning delivery across locations and ensure scalability
Talent identification & succession planning
Lead talent identification and assessment processes to identify high performers and high-potential employees
Develop and maintain succession plans for critical roles and future leaders
Coordinate leadership development programs for emerging leaders and senior management
Create development plans for high-potential employees to prepare them for future roles
Partner with business leaders on talent pipeline and bench strength assessments
Learning technology & analytics
Evaluate and implement learning management systems and digital learning platforms
Drive adoption of technology-enabled learning and virtual delivery methods
Establish learning metrics, KPIs, and ROI measurement frameworks
Generate learning analytics reports to track program effectiveness and participant progress
Use data to continuously improve learning program design and delivery
Organisational capability building
Assess organisational capability gaps and design targeted interventions
Drive skill development initiatives across critical functional areas
Lead change management and capability enablement during organisational transformations
Build internal training capability through development of trainer and facilitator programs
Create knowledge management and peer learning platforms
Who are we looking for?
Education
MBA – HR from XLRI, TISS, SIBM, SCMHRD, MDI or other esteemed HR colleges.
Batch- 2017 and 2018 only.
Experience
3+ years of experience in learning and development, talent management, or organisational development
3+ years in a leadership role managing a team
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing competency frameworks and learning pathways
Proven track record in talent identification, succession planning, and leadership development
Experience with learning management systems and digital learning platforms
Experience in multi-location or large-scale organisations
Skills
Strategic thinking: Ability to align learning strategy with business objectives
Leadership: Strong leadership presence with ability to influence and engage stakeholders
Instructional design: Deep knowledge of learning design principles and program development
Change management: Ability to drive organisational change and build adoption
Analytical mindset: Strong data analysis skills and ability to measure effectiveness
Project management: Excellent planning and execution capabilities
Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Stakeholder management: Ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders
Business acumen: Understanding of business operations and organisational dynamics
Emotional intelligence: Self-awareness and ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
