The Engineer – Digital & Drawing Management will be part of the VP TAS organization. The VP TAS will be accountable for maximizing integrated business value across the organization. Technical Asset Operations (TAS) is a key enabler for the accelerated delivery of Shell’s Asset Management System and will help us to reach our ultimate potential in Downstream Manufacturing, Integrated Gas and Upstream. TAS provides high quality and cost-competitive technical resources who are not physically present at site yet are an integral part of asset teams delivering value through end-to-end AMS work processes.
The purpose of this role is to support Shell’s operating units in the Drawings and Digital Delivery domain by creating and managing intelligent and non‑intelligent 1D, 2D, and 3D technical databases. The role also involves working with design and modelling applications as a Drafter/Designer or Administrator, in line with defined scope and deliverables. The candidate will primarily utilize tools such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, SPPID, AVEVA E3D & S3D
What you’ll be doing
2D Drawings & Engineering Deliverables
Develop, update, review, and manage a wide range of engineering drawings including P&IDs, isometrics, general arrangements (GA), equipment layouts, instrument hook-ups, loop diagrams, SLDs, cable schedules, and panel layouts.
Interpret and implement redline mark-ups (RLMU) and ensure accurate incorporation into final deliverables.

Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure completeness, consistency, and compliance with standards.
Review vendor drawings (including control system wiring and panels) and ensure alignment with project requirements.
Support preparation and maintenance of associated engineering documents such as piping specifications, material specifications, layouts, and support drawings.
3D Modelling (S3D / E3D)
Develop and maintain 3D models using AVEVA E3D/SP3D aligned to engineering data, layouts, and design inputs.
Perform model reviews and support clash detection activities using tools such as Navisworks or equivalent.
Support modelling using laser scan data and conversion into design models (as applicable).
Ensure model quality, data consistency, and alignment with project standards.
SPPID (Smart P&ID)
Create and update intelligent P&IDs using Hexagon SPPID with appropriate attribute tagging and metadata integration.
Perform QA/QC checks on SPPID deliverables to ensure accuracy and data completeness prior to handover.
Convert non-intelligent AutoCAD P&IDs into SPPID formats where required.
Support SPPID environment setup and troubleshooting (backup/restore, symbol customization, reports, naming rules, workshare setups, etc.) as applicable.
Ensure compliance with standards such as ISO 15926 and alignment across engineering systems.
Quality, Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Provide technical guidance and quality oversight to designers/drafters.
Collaborate with engineering teams and operating units to resolve design issues and improve delivery outcomes.
Ensure consistency across drawings, P&IDs, and 3D models to reduce rework and enhance overall quality.
Capture and replicate best practices across projects and teams.
What you bring
Engineering Degree in Mechanical/Piping Engineering with 8–10 years of experience in the oil & gas / petrochemical industry across operating assets and/or greenfield & brownfield projects.
Strong experience in mechanical/piping design across FEED, detailed engineering, and as-built phases, including preparation and updating of drawings and 3D models (plot plans, piping GA, isometrics, P&IDs/PEFS, PFDs).
Proficient in engineering drawing interpretation, document management, and bill of materials, with strong capability in drafting, reviewing, and quality assurance of design deliverables.
Hands-on expertise in: 2D tools: AutoCAD / MicroStation; 3D tools: AVEVA E3D / SP3D; P&ID tools: Hexagon SPPID
Good understanding of multi-discipline engineering (mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, process) and ability to interface across disciplines to resolve design issues.
Familiarity with international codes, standards, and recommended practices; exposure to Shell DEP standards is an advantage.
Experience in Information Management and integrated engineering systems is preferred.
Exposure to SPPID administration, Hexagon suite tools, and Digital Twin concepts is an added advantage.
Prior experience in EPC, engineering consultancy, or GCC environments with strong delivery and supervision exposure.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and locations.
Quality-driven and detail-oriented, with the ability to ensure consistency and completeness across deliverables.
Analytical mindset with problem-solving capability, applying engineering best practices and standards to improve outcomes.
