Allianz Technology is the global IT backbone of the Allianz Group, delivering technology services across 70+ countries. As part of the EA 2.0 operating model, the Enterprise. Architecture Management (EAM) team is growing its presence in the Americas region.
The EA Area Architect for Americas is accountable for the product portfolio, technology landscape, and architectural direction of the Americas operating entities. This role is the single point of architectural accountability at area level - bridging enterprise strategy and local business realities, and ensuring that architectural decisions across tribes and products are coherent, forward-looking, and aligned with Allianz Group standards.
This is a high-visibility role embedded within a globally distributed EA community. The person will operate with significant autonomy, represent the Americas area in global architecture governance bodies, and act as a trusted technical advisor to both engineering and business leadership.
What you do
Architecture ownership and design
Own the target architecture and technology roadmap for the Americas area, aligned with the Allianz Group enterprise architecture and H4 standards
Support tribes and product teams in identifying the architecture and technologies that best fit their product designs, resolving interdependencies across area boundaries
Define and govern critical non-functional requirements (scalability, resilience, security, observability) across the area
Drive architectural evolution of existing platforms - reducing technical debt and improving product health

Chair or co-chair the Americas Area Design Authority (ADA), facilitating architecture decision-making at area level
Represent the Americas area in global EA bodies, contributing to enterprise-wide standards, patterns, and architectural decisions
Review and sign off on significant architectural changes, ensuring compliance with H4 guardrails and enterprise standards
Coordinate with Lead Architects in adjacent areas and functional domains (data, security, cloud, integration)
Review projects and gain alignment for the Challenge room sessions
Security architecture
Ensure security architecture principles are followed in the design and implementation of services across the area
Consult product teams on secure-by-design patterns and facilitate security architecture reviews
Collaborate with the EA Security domain to embed controls appropriate for the Americas regulatory environment
Strategic enablement
Participate in quarterly business reviews and planning cycles, providing architectural input to product roadmaps and investment decisions
Assess technology competencies within area teams and identify coaching and enablement needs
Contribute to the EA community of practice - sharing knowledge, validating patterns, and developing architectural standards
What you bring
Experience
8+ years in IT architecture roles, with at least 3 years at area or enterprise level
Proven track record managing architecture across complex, multi-team product areas in large-scale organizations
Background in insurance, financial services, or regulated industries is a strong plus
Familiarity with agile operating models (SAFe, Spotify-model or equivalent)
Technical skills
Broad architectural knowledge across application, integration, infrastructure, and data domains
Hands-on understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and modern application patterns (microservices, event-driven, API-first)
Ability to assess and govern security architecture, including Americas regulatory context (SOX, state-level data privacy)
Proficiency with architecture modeling tooling (ArchiMate, C4, UML, or equivalent)
Leadership and communication
Strong stakeholder management skills - able to influence without authority across engineering, product, and business leadership
Able to translate complex architecture decisions into clear language for both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience facilitating design authorities or architecture review forums
Comfortable working in a globally distributed, multicultural environment

This is an executive role with competitive variable targets. The annualized base pay range for this role is $170,000 - 220,000. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, and the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the ATA total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, ATA also offers eligibility for an incentive-based annual bonus.
