Children’s SEL Experience Facilitator – Emotions Lab

About the internship
We are looking for an experienced, warm, and child-sensitive facilitator to lead an interactive emotions lab experience for children at NMACC, BKC.
The role is best suited for someone with a background in social-emotional learning, primary education, early childhood education, child psychology, counselling, special education, art-based learning, or child development. The facilitator will guide children through a play-based emotional exploration experience, using simple prompts, observation, and gentle conversation. The focus is not on teaching or giving fixed answers, but on helping children recognise, express, and explore emotions through activities, stories, colours, textures, and creative play.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include
- Welcome children and parents into the emotions lab
- Explain the experience in a simple, child-friendly way
- Facilitate emotional exploration using SEL-based prompts
- Help children name, express and reflect on emotions safely
- Support shy, anxious, overstimulated or high-energy children calmly
- Ensure parents allow children to lead the process
- Maintain a safe, clean and well-organised activity space
- Reset materials and keep the experience presentable throughout the day
- Report observations, concerns, material shortages, or safety issues to the team
