Position: Assistant ProfessorDepartment: Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning (FADP)Location: Ganpat Vidyanagar, Mehsana-Gozaria Highway, Gujarat, IndiaJob Type: Full-time, On-campus Job SummaryThe Faculty of Architecture, Design & Planning is seeking a creative and dynamic Architecture educator. The ideal candidate will teach courses in our flagship Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) program, and will also be expected to take certain interdisciplinary courses across our Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) pathways pertaining to spatial design. A major emphasis of the role will be on teaching and academic duties, with an equal emphasis on Research. Technical Skills & Competencies
- Design & BIM Software: Command over AutoCAD, SketchUp, and the Adobe Creative Suite, with preference to candidates with experience in Autodesk Revit/ArchiCAD, Rhino, Blender, SolidWorks, among other BIM, design and rendering software & plugins.
- Domain Knowledge: Advanced understanding of local building bye-laws, National Building Code (NBC), MEP coordination, and sustainable construction practices.
- Soft Skills: Superior graphic communication, public speaking, mentorship capabilities, and ethical professional conduct.
Educational and Professional Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Architecture (B.Arch.) with minimum 60% marks OR B.Arch. and a Masters Degree in Architecture (M.Arch./Allied PG Specialization) with minimum 60% marks at either level.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience (for B.Arch. candidates) OR minimum 1 year of professional experience (for M.Arch./Allied PG candidates).
Key Responsibilities1.Studio Instruction & Course Delivery
- Lead Architectural & Basic Design Studios across various semesters, fostering conceptual and analytical capabilities. A proficient candidate is also expected to deliver in the Working Drawings studio alongside field experts.
- Deliver foundational and specialized sessions in two or more core courses: Building Materials & Construction, Building Services, History & Humanities, Climatology, Sustainable Architecture, Building Economics, Construction Management, Research Skills & Methods, Site Planning & Landscape, Urban Anthropology & Ekistics, Professional Practice, and Professional Electives, to name a few.
- Teach Drawing and Visualization techniques using various manual and digital tools the student should gain proficiency in areas such as orthographic projections, isometric and axonometric layouts, on-site sketching, manual drafting skills, alongside modern tool usage. A major focus should also be on ingraining the use of AI tools as part of processes rather than outcomes.
